Overview of North Bethesda
Nestled in between Rockville and Bethesda, just outside of DC – so it is close by to the best of all of those communities – North Bethesda is one of the fastest growing areas in Maryland. It was ranked in 2018 by Niche as the number one best place to live in Maryland — for good reason.
Primarily the developed historical estates and storied lands of plantation owners and pioneering families, North Bethesda is an appealing mix of traditional, seasoned neighborhoods that were the first waves of “developer conceived homes”, and beautiful new construction.
North Bethesda is literally blooming with brand-new, ultra-modern stunning condominiums, situated near all the critical conveniences to ensure great living. Multiple Metro stations and other mass transits serve North Bethesda, making commuting to work, appointments or fun super easy.
Not only does the great array of residential options make North Bethesda so perfect for families, so do the schools. Montgomery County Public Schools offer school choice and it is nationally ranked in the top five of best public schools. It also hosts numerous esteemed private schools.
But it’s not just a bedroom-community. While the stores, restaurants, museums and other points of interest of DC, Chevy Chase and other surrounding areas are close by and easy to get to, North Bethesda offers plenty to enjoy in the form of wonderful restaurants, shopping, varied grocery stores to eliminate the need to travel elsewhere.
Perhaps the jewel of North Bethesda is its cultural and artistic center, the Strathmore Music Center. Like all of the rest of North Bethesda, Strathmore is built on a former estate and consists of a restored, mansion and new construction. The artistic center is home to hundreds of performances including the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. The mansion itself is the venue for a broad spectrum of social and civic events. DC patrons travel to events in North Bethesda, instead of the other way around!
Bethesda Trolley Trail (aka the North Bethesda Trail) is a 4 mile trail that links North Bethesda and Bethesda, allowing bicycle commuters to bypass interstates 270 and 495.
While many people argue that North Bethesda is really Rockville, it has been a census designated place as long ago as 1980 and was labeled North Bethesda in the original 1970 Masterplan for the area. (BethesdaMagazine.com)
