Alexandria, VA April 2026 Market Report

Alexandria, VA April 2026 Market Report

In Alexandria, Virginia, the detached home market remained strong and active throughout April. The median home price climbed to $955,000, up 6.7% from March and slightly higher than this time last year. Homes continued to sell quickly, averaging just 14 days on the market, which reflects steady buyer demand across the area.

Buyer activity also increased during the month, with more homes going under contract compared to March. At the same time, the number of homes available for sale rose significantly, giving buyers more choices than they’ve had in recent months. Even with the increase in inventory, demand remained strong enough to keep the market competitive.

Overall, Alexandria continues to favor sellers, especially for homes that are well-priced and move-in ready. However, buyers are beginning to benefit from a healthier level of inventory and a more balanced market compared to the extremely tight conditions seen over the last few years. The market is now operating closer to normal seasonal patterns, while still maintaining solid pricing and strong activity levels.
